In 2022 we had an incredible opportunity to create the visuals for Justin Bieber's World Tour. We partnered with Cole Bennett/Lyrical Lemonade to create this unforgettable experience that millions of people all over the world got to experience. It was a very challenging and technical task to accomplish due to the complexity of the project and the fast turnaround time of fewer than 3 weeks from the day of the shoot to the final delivery.
Justin’s team approached us with their storyboards, and from those, we were able to start planning our work around their specific vision. In order to complete such an ambitious task we previs’d every shot down to the detail. From the camera moves: to lighting, down to every asset. The only way for us to accomplish such heavy CG sequences was to shoot every scene in Virtual Production.
We rented out a 50,000 sqft sound stage and built out 5 sets all around that our techno crane could just rotate into one by one. We ran live tracking and live compositing via Unreal Engine and Stype so the client could see in real-time how each environment would look on set. This helped cut down on the post-production time by ensuring the vision was on par with what the client was looking for; before it even made it to post. The client had a very tight deadline to follow and we were able to help them cut out unnecessary time-consuming details and ensure they were on the fastest timeline to produce their project.
Once we went to post we had all of the tracking data and 3D environments. Our team worked on rerendering all of the scenes and added all of the animations and 3D assets. Due to Virtual Production and the tools we used on set, we were able to deliver such heavy tasks on time and at the highest quality.
