Snapchat’s Brand Spotlight’s dives into the different ways in which brands have used its technology to enhance their marketing strategy with AR to reach consumers through Snapchat. Scissor Films helped to shine the spotlight on these brands two years in a row, using our virtual production stage.

For 2021’s Brand Spotlights, Scissor Films worked with Snapchat to build a custom 3D environment in Unreal Engine. We then modeled each brand’s logo to add to the environment during their respective segments. Executives from Disney, Monster, American Eagle, and Invisalign all took the stage to show how AR has enhanced their brands. For the second year of Snapchat’s Brand Spotlights, Scissor Films reimagined the first environment we custom created and updated stage for our hosts in 2022, including Sony Pictures, Zenni, and Uber Eats.

During previs, we played with elements that could bring a virtual environment more lifelike and up to date. We added more decor to our interior wooden walls, added more plant life in the outside environment and played around with the virtual world. 

Once the virtual stage was set, the next phase was production. The full scale shoot was planned and executed right on our 360 virtual production stage. This gave us the ability to work closely with each brand’s executive to do any last minute adjustments to their brand’s logo in real time. After a successful shoot, Scissor Films went straight into post, editing each brand’s segment with full sound design, graphics, and various cut downs for Snapchat’s deliveries. The efficient combination of virtual production and full post production has allowed us to strengthen our relationship with clients and push the boundaries of technology, changing the landscape of filming from the inception of an idea to its delivery.
